Board character
The Freestyle Wave has long been a benchmark in the allround category, known for its balanced feel, comfort and wide usable range. The latest version offers a more compact sensation, increased manoeuvrability and improved top-end control. Whether blasting on flat water, carving tight turns or riding small waves, the board responds quickly and feels lively underfoot.
Construction
Built in JP’s Carbon Innegra construction, the Freestyle Wave combines low weight with excellent strength. Reinforced nose and rail areas increase impact resistance, while the full PVC sandwich improves stiffness. S-Glass stringers stabilise the board at speed, keeping it controlled even in challenging conditions. The result is a durable, lightweight board with a very direct riding feel.
Shape and details
A slimmer nose gives a light and agile feel, while the parallel mid-section provides early planing and stability. The narrow tail maintains control at high speeds and ensures solid grip during carving turns. Footstrap and fin positions allow for versatile tuning: inboard straps and thruster setup for wave-oriented riding, or outboard straps with a single fin for a faster freeride feel.
Up front, a pronounced V with double concaves increases comfort and smooths out choppy water. From the strap area to the tail, the V flattens out, creating a curvy rail line and thinner rails that improve bite and looseness in turns. Reduced centre rocker boosts top speed while maintaining a loose, controlled water position.
On the water
The board gets going quickly, accelerates smoothly and provides excellent control at higher speeds. It feels compact, stable and reactive, making it suitable for blasting, bump and jump sailing or small-wave riding. In turns, the wave DNA becomes clear: the rails grip confidently, transitions are smooth and the board maintains speed effortlessly. It handles rough conditions with ease and remains predictable in both side-shore and side-onshore setups.
Who it's for
Perfect for riders looking for a single, do-everything board. Ideal for intermediate to advanced sailors who want one shape for freeride, bumps, jumps, small waves and freestyle-style manoeuvres. A highly dependable choice for coastal spots, travel and all-round high-wind sessions.
