Character and purpose
V8 Flight is a dedicated foil freerace sail that delivers near-race performance without the complexity of a full slalom foil design. Built around a twin cam setup and a high aspect outline, it takes maximum advantage of every gust while maintaining steady lift and clean flight on long reaches. Its flat profile and tight leech improve acceleration and foil-specific control.
Construction and on-water behaviour
The narrow double luff sleeve simplifies rigging, reduces weight and minimizes water intake during falls. Ultra PE X-Ply in the foot and clew increases durability while keeping the sail responsive. Airflow tubular battens reduce drag and stabilize the aerodynamic profile for smoother, faster foiling.
Foil handling and control
Every movement translates with precision. The two cams create a locked-in foil-specific profile while still allowing smooth, predictable rotation during gybes. The tight leech boosts acceleration and efficiency, enabling riders to choose smaller sail sizes compared to traditional slalom setups.
Stability and dynamics
A high aspect design inspired by RS:Flight enhances upwind and downwind performance, maintaining lift and drive even in gusty or changing conditions. The 2026 iteration adds refined load response and improved stability under foil-specific angles of attack.
